Fort Leavenworth Dental Clinic - So… what is it like to be a dentist in a distributed environment here? A little rough, not the saddest thing that ever happened to me. But it's pretty rough. Living conditions are not bad. I live in a plywood room which is very cool. (Though the room in Ft Leavenworth was bigger.) The hospital was tough, though. It was a little confusing when I took it off. It doesn't seem to be cleaned often. and many devices not working properly I carry garbage and food wrappers. Diet and shaving cream and other sanitary items Out of the box where they store the dental equipment. It's really bad. We're still renovating and have been here for almost a month.
Dental work here is disappointing. I am the only dentist for soldiers, sailors, marines, pilots, civilians and other "government agencies". This means I work 24/7 with no days off. PA-C/MD works one day and one day off. Great! People come to see their teeth all the time, every day.

If not in the clinic, a lot comes down. This is a good FOB, so there's something to do. We have MWR and USO facilities with internet and telephone. We have a small cinema and two gymnasiums. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, so you can go get ice cream whenever you want.

On free evenings we like to go up to the rooftop for smoke and beer nearby. Not as good as Club Habana in Charleston, but relaxing. I still go to the gym almost every day.
That's what it's like to be a blanket dentist now. This has been a long year. I hope time flies
